Euricon and Sustainable Tourism

“Development of a Cross-Border Network for the Promotion of Sustainable Coastal Tourism” CROSS-COASTAL-NET of the INTERREG V-A GREECE-CYRPUS Cooperation Program 2014-2020.

The main purpose of the CROSS-COASTAL-NET project is the establishment of a Network for the Promotion of Sustainable Forms of Coastal Tourism. This project’s ultimate goal is the protection and the promotion of the environmentally sensitive coastal areas of the common cross-border area of GREECE-CYPRUS that are under enormous pressure from mass tourism. Specific objectives are the promotion of new alternative tourist destinations around the sensitive Natura 2000 coastal areas of the RU of Chania (Balos Lagoon) and Paphos District (Akama Peninsula), the strengthening in matters of protection and promotion of natural resources, raising awareness among residents and visitors, the promotion of environmental friendly tourist and business activities, etc.
The partnership consists of the Chamber of Chania as the lead partner, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Paphos, the Municipality of Kissamos, the Community Council of Innia, the Cyprus University of Technology and the Technical University of Crete.

The project’s duration is 2 years: 01/07/2021-31/06/2023
