Euricon implemented on behalf of the Chamber of Preveza a series of events highlighting and promoting local extra virgin olive oils of the common cross-border region of Greece and Italy, through local gastronomy, with great success.
Specifically within the framework of the cross-border project: “AUTHENTIC-OLIVE-NET – Certification of Authenticity and Development of a Promotion Network olive products in the across border GREECE – ITALY area” the following events were organized:
- Local Olive Oil Tasting Event at the Old Olive Mill “Paragaea” in Parga on Saturday 8/12/2021
- Tasting Event of local olive oils at the Marina of Preveza on Sunday 8/22/2021
- Olive oil tourism promotion event, entitled: “Olive Oil tourism a promising form of alternative tourism in Preveza” in the event hall of the “Margarona Royal Hotel”, in Preveza on Saturday 12/18/2021. The event was graced by the presence of the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Ms. Sofia Zaharaki
- “Training and Olive Oil” event in Public Vocational Training Institute of Preveza (D.I.E.K. PREVEZA), on Friday 17/12/2021
The main part of the events included a tasting event of 5 varieties of extra virgin olive oil from Preveza and Apulia, by Olive Oil Tasters Panagiotis Katsaris, Head of Olive Oil Quality Certification Laboratory of ELGO-DIMITRA, and Takis Dimitrakopoulos, Member of a Certified Organoleptic Check Group of SEVITEL. In addition, 3 of the events above were followed by a culinary demonstration of local recipes based on regional olive oils and agro-food products.
Quite special was the event organized jointly with the Public Vocational Training Institute of Preveza (D.I.E.K. PREVEZA), with the theme: “Training and Olive Oil”. Τhe event was attended with great interest by students and instructors of D.I.E.K.. The Director of D.I.E.K. PEVEZAS, Mr. Anagnostakis Ioannis, and the President of the Chamber of Preveza, Mr. Bouris Ioannis, emphasized the necessity of closer cooperation between the two carriers in the effort to offer high-quality professional training to the young people of the region, through the signing of a relevant Memorandum of Cooperation.
The AUTHENTIC-OLIVE-NET project is funded by the Operational Territorial Programme «Interreg V/A Greece-Italy 2014-20».
