2nd Project Meeting of the "OliveOilMedNet" Project in Bari and Andria - Italy

 

Euricon participated as an expert in the second project meeting of the OliveOilMedNet project, with the title "Mediterranean Network for the Promotion of Sustainability and Authenticity in the Olive Oil Sector", which is co-financed by the INTERREG Euro-MED program. The meeting took place on October 29 and 30 in Bari and Andria.

 

Partners

Partners CIA – Regional Association of Puglia and ASSOPROLI – Bari were responsible for organizing the meeting. In detail, representatives from all project partners were present in person or online at the meeting:

First Day

During the first day of the meeting at the CIA Agricoltori Italiani di Puglia regional headquarters, all the partners attended the meeting, presenting some of the results of the research study on the current situation of olive growing in their countries, the regulatory frameworks and the Challenges-Opportunities of the olive oil sector. Any existing intervention tools, strategies and tools relevant to the project were assessed. Subsequently, the scientific partners, ELGO DIMITRA and University of Jaen, showed the good practices to follow from harvesting to pressing the olives.

This was followed in the afternoon by a visit to the FINOLIVA factory in Bitonto. All the partners were able to admire the technologies used and the production processes with total product traceability.

 

Second Day

The second day started with a visit to Andria where the meeting took place at the Assoproli headquarters. During the meeting, the partners discussed various topics such as capacity building activities, networking and communication aspects of the project. Finally, decisions were made and the meeting finished with a brief tasting experience and visit to processing and packaging facilities.
